• Norway takes a prominent role in supporting Ukraine...

  • …both in the short term and the long term as some kind of peace is established.

What is the situation for business in Ukraine? What are the future prospects for restoration, and what role can Norwegian businesses play? ...and most importantly how can your company get into position and claim your role of this effort?

"It is important that Norway takes a prominent role in helping Ukraine both in the short term and in contributing to the reconstruction once the war has ended. Our companies must contribute what they can. We already know that the Ukrainians will have major reconstruction needs in areas such as infrastructure and power and food production. There are areas where Norwegian companies have good expertise."

Ukraine is educated and technologically advanced to a level equal to any European nation, and the country is indeed open for business.

Ukraine is the second largest European country. Aside the hills and mountains of the Carpathians and Crimea it mainly consists of fertile flatlands. This is how Ukraine earned its reputation as the globe’s breadbasket.

Ukraine has experienced several waves of turbulence in the political sphere since its independence from the USSR in 1991, with the Orange Revolution in 2004 as a significant peak, and the final break-away towards Europe and democracy in 2013, which in the end led to Russian aggression from 2014 and eventually the full scale invasion of Feb-22.

Despite these challenges, Ukraine remains a nation of high education and technological advancement, rivalling any European counterpart.

The private sector has proved resilient and is climbing back to the pre full scale invasion level. However, most resources both human and financial are dedicated to fight back the aggressor, and foreign businesses are both welcome and needed to achieve goals.

Some estimates suggest that the recovery effort could exceed 750 billion USD. These are numbers difficult to grasp. The message from the Ukrainian Government is clear: “abundant opportunities exist for companies willing to contribute to Ukraine's recovery and progress – and especially those that contribute while the war is still ongoing.”
